As a Lifeguard, your role goes beyond water safety. You will be the face of our poolside hospitality, ensuring every guest feels secure, comfortable, and part of the scene. Transportation:
This position requires commuting to Fire Island Pines. For commuter roles, we provide free water taxi transportation and cover the cost of parking to ensure a smooth and stress-free commute.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Safety & Supervision – Provide continuous surveillance of the pool and surrounding deck, interact with swimmers, and intervene immediately when safety is at risk.
- Emergency Response – Remain calm and decisive during emergencies; administer first aid/CPR as certified and follow established emergency action plans.
- Pool & Deck Maintenance – Monitor water clarity and chemical readings; keep the pool area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; report any concerns to the Resort Manager.
- Team Collaboration – Work cooperatively with fellow hospitality staff to deliver a seamless guest experience.
- Communication – Give clear, courteous instructions to guests and relay important information to management in a timely manner.
Schedule Requirements:
The normal shift times for this position are 11am-6pm. Candidates must have flexible availability throughout the season.
Qualifications:
- Age: 18 years or older.
- Certification: Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent). Certification must be recognized in the state of New York.
- Skills: Excellent observational, communication, and customer-service abilities; proven capacity to remain composed under pressure and respond swiftly in emergencies.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to swim, lift/move up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
